by CadamieAre our religions a manifestation of some global cargo cult initiated by historic extra terrestrial encounters, reinforced by unprecedented monolithic accomplishments such as the pyramids? If this is the case… I wonder if our society, in all of its plastic-sculpted gasoline powered majesty, has lost perspective of the sheer wonder these structures demonstrate.
I was watching the History Channel series called Ancient Aliens and the episode Chariots, Gods and Beyond, and it struck me that our common global religions reflect the misunderstandings and fascinations that may have arisen from alien encounters or at least with advanced technologies and tools used by leaders of antiquity.
There really are no feasible answers for how pyramids and other great stone structures were made in ancient times. The Great Pyramid is said to have been constructed in 20 years but given that short time span a stone would have had to have been placed once every nine seconds. It just doesn’t work… Even with modern gasoline powered steel reinforced cranes and trucks the task of moving just one stone of such size is impossible.
Today in Western culture it is easy to accept the existence of such wonders and glaze over the details. We have all seen them in pictures, we have been told how they were made by groups of slaves using ropes and ramps, and we are so out of touch with manual labor ourselves that it just seems acceptable. These feelings are exacerbated by the seemingly large and impressive structures of our own societies. The cars we drive and the plastic that is molded to any shape we desire. The materials used at Pumapunku for example, are Granite and Diorite that can only be cut with diamond tipped bits. The accomplishment can really only be appreciated by mechanical specialists or those who take a deeper look, beyond the middle school curriculum level.
I’m impressed, to say the least, and encouraged at what has been accomplished by man and his possibly extra terrestrial brothers in centuries past.
